Here’s Parth Experience of the Treasures of Ladakh - the Thrillophilia Way!
There is a calm and serenity in exploring the monasteries. They hold years of wisdom and knowledge that have been protected since time unknown. With architectures that tell you stories of the innovations and discoveries of the past, the monasteries are the epitome of cultural explorations.
Agreed?
Yes, they did too.
When Parth and his wife first approached Thrillophilia to book a Ladakh trip, they asked us-
“What does the sightseeing in Ladakh mainly include?”
We said, “There are some world-famous monasteries that will surely make you mesmerised. Along with them, there are several high passes like Khardung La and Chang La that you can visit and villages that you can explore. Also, the food is yummy!”
They were on board.
After booking the trip, we suggested to them what to pack and how to prepare for this trip as it would require a lot of stamina to fight the fluctuating temperatures of the region. They noted it all down and started prepping for the same.
The Beginning
Upon reaching Leh, they met their whole team. There were around 14 travellers with two guides from Thrillophilia, one local driver, and another local tour operator. They all were welcoming and good-natured, and as for the other travellers, the journey would reveal how they bonded.
We had the same itinerary, but we had one extra day in hand to visit the Stok Village and the Alchi Village. It was on a special request from Parth’s end as he wished to witness the oldest Monastery of Ladakh- the Alchi Monastery.
The first day of the trip was filled with visits to various attractions like the Shanti Stupa, Royal Palace, and the Leh Market. They also went to the Thiksey Monastery and the Hall of Fame which was created in memory of the soldiers from the Indian Army who lost their lives in the Kargil War, to protect our nation. It was an overwhelming experience for the whole team, looking at the laid epitaphs.
Their trip to Nubra was significant, passing the viewpoint of Sangam (the meeting point of the Zanskar and Indus Rivers), and crossing the picturesque Khardung La, the highest all-season motorable pass. But what caught their eyes was the barren landscapes that gave such a unique touch to the scenery. There were towering mountains all around them, the ones at the distance bearing snow. They stood tall against the blue sky, with their bases extending to the endless valleys.
No wonder Nubra is known to be a cold desert. It was starkly different from that of Rajasthan. It intrigued the couple. They were stunned to see such spectacular beauty of the region. Excited, they tried double-humped camel back riding before retiring to their camps in Hunder. It was rather the magic of technological advancements that even at that altitude, they got hot water from 6 in the morning and heater beds that kept them warm at night.
The temperatures were freezing, but since they already had a discussion regarding the same with Thrillophilia’s team, they were well-prepared. They layered their clothes exactly as suggested, and never felt any health issues. They had also acclimatised to the climate well.
To love and respect
The couple was happy, and very much in love. It is reflected in the way they treat each other, always being mindful of each other’s needs. They were having a great time, relaxing, travelling, exploring, and making memories. They were quite satisfied with the way the entire journey was working out, with good food, good stays, punctual pick-ups and top-notch services.
Once, they talked with the driver about how he could drive day after day for such long distances. To this, he replied- “This is our job, and we are very familiar with the terrain. It is no inconvenience for us. Also, we love our home state, it is very beautiful. No matter how many times you visit one place, something or the other always catches your eye.”
He was a very skilful and cooperative driver until he was angry. Once, he got into an argument with one of the other drivers over some local issue, and that day his hot-headed nature was out in the open. It took a good 20 minutes to calm him down and settle the issue. Thank god Thrillophilia's representative interfered and managed the situation!
They all got the hint that it was a very personal matter, and they did not push any further. He was sorry for the disruption created to this otherwise soothing trip, but it was alright. Disrespect should always be answered.
Next - their pangong excursion was smooth and happening! They rode the yellow scooter on the banks, clicked various photographs, and Parth and his partner took a long walk beside the lake, perhaps sharing some quality conversations. There was a group of people debating on the colour-changing phenomena of the lake, to which one of Thrillophilia’s guides reverted, and gave them the scientific explanation.
The final stops
The Stok Village and the Alchi Village, both offered spectacular views to the couple. They explored the Stok Monastery as well as the Alchi Monastery, something that they wanted to do since the beginning of the trip. Since it was an additional tour included in the itinerary, they did it in private, without the group.
They could spend a lovely time together in these destinations, wrapping up their adventurous trip in the best possible way.
After returning to Leh, when they got a call from Thrillophilia’s team asking about how everything was, they simply said,
“It was an awesome experience. We had an equal amount of thrill and an equal amount of peace. Adding the customisation worked out well for both of us, it seemed like we were here for a second honeymoon! Thanks to you guys, the arrangements were perfect! No complaints!”
Glad, we hoped to serve them again!
