Romance, Reels, and Starry Nights: Preethu’s Ladakh Trip Review with Thrillophilia
When my best friend and I casually brought up the idea of a trip, we never imagined we’d find ourselves in the high-altitude deserts of Ladakh. But one thing led to another, and there we were – me and my bestie with our partners – embarking on what would become an unforgettable adventure.
I mean who would say no to the idea of a dreamy trip with serene lakes, majestic mountains and a chance to fulfil our Bollywood wishes?
Of course, we didn’t plan everything ourselves. Because let’s be real, planning an entire trip of 4 people is exhausting. So, it is better to let the pros handle the details. That’s where Thrillophilia stepped in! We booked from them and trust me everything went smoothly.
Now, let me take you through the adventure because this trip was everything, from funny to heartwarming, with a dash of filmy drama and stargazing nights.
Laughs, Bollywood Dreams and a High-Octane Adventure
One of the highlights of our trip was channelling our inner Bollywood stars. I had always dreamed of wearing a saree against a mountain backdrop, and Ladakh offered the perfect setting. Dressed in a vibrant saree, I posed with the mountains towering behind me.
It felt like I was on a film set, and my friends were the best paparazzi, capturing every moment for Instagram reels. The views were so stunning that I half-expected to see a Bollywood hero walking into the frame!
Our visit to the SECMOL campus was another cinematic experience. We stopped by the SECMOL campus, famously known for the film 3 Idiots. Sitting on the “3 Idiots” funny bumps, we laughed heartily as we recreated some iconic scenes from the movie.
It felt like a Bollywood dream come true!
Also, we had the chance to wear Ladakh’s traditional attire. We joined in the fun, and we spent the afternoon capturing the contrast between our colourful outfits and the rugged, earthy tones of the landscape.
Moreover, our adventure took a thrilling turn with river rafting in Ladakh. We plunged into the icy waters of the Indus River, our adrenaline pumping as we navigated the rapids.
The sheer joy of working together to steer the raft, combined with the stunning landscape that surrounded us, made it an exhilarating experience. The river's frothy waves and the surrounding mountains created a dramatic and unforgettable setting for our rafting escapade.
After the high-octane rafting, we relaxed by the riverbank, enjoying a picnic and reflecting on our wild ride. The serenity of the river, contrasting with the thrill of the rapids, offered a perfect blend of excitement and calm.
Stargazing and Camel Rides
Our journey to Nubra Valley was a visual feast. Driving through the Khardung-La Pass, the highest motorable road in the world, was an adventure in itself. The views were so breathtaking that we had to stop several times to take it all in.
As we descended into Nubra Valley, the landscape shifted from barren heights to white sand dunes, which we explored on the back of double-humped camels. The camel ride was both fun and fascinating.
That night, we camped under a canopy of stars in Nubra Valley. The clear, unpolluted sky was a celestial display of stars, and as we gathered around a bonfire, the warmth of the fire contrasted beautifully with the cool mountain air.
We shared stories, sang songs, and danced to our favourite tunes, feeling completely at home in the wilderness. The bond and joy of that night made it one of the most memorable parts of the trip.
Romance by the Shore
One of the romantic highlights of our trip was at Pangong Lake. We had many expectations for this one particularity and oh! boy, it lived up to all of them.
So, my partner pulled off the sweetest surprise ever: a hidden picnic date just for us by the lake. We snuck away from the group and found this perfect spot with the lake on one side and the mountains on the other. It was like our own little paradise!
We set up our picnic and relaxed with delicious snacks and some great conversation. The lake sparkled in the background, and the whole vibe was just so chill and romantic. It was absolutely perfect. We laughed, enjoyed the view, and soaked in the magic of it all.
Also, one of the most exhilarating parts of our trip was the impromptu photoshoot on the barren terrains of Ladakh.
Oh, and let me tell you about the reel-worthy moments! We went a little crazy with the photos and videos, capturing every epic angle of our Ladakh adventure. From goofy poses to dramatic shots with the mountains as our backdrop, we turned the entire trip into a mini photo shoot.
My partner and I had a blast striking poses by the lake and running around in the barren landscapes, pretending we were in our own Bollywood movie. The result? A reel full of laughter, some seriously stunning shots, and a bunch of outtakes that still make us crack up. Our phones were practically bursting with memories, and we couldn’t wait to share our Ladakh story with everyone!
Until We Meet Again, Mountain Majesty!
As our Ladakh escapade drew to a close, the farewell was bittersweet.
We retraced our steps back to Leh, savouring every last moment. Our final day was a nostalgic blend of relaxed vibes and scenic stops. We revisited the Druk Padma School, where the echoes of 3 Idiots lingered, and took in the breathtaking views from the Chang-la Pass one last time. It was a perfect end to our adventure—a combination of breathtaking sights and cosy comfort.
Reflecting on our trip, it was clear that Ladakh had captured our hearts. Our driver was very polite and the stays were excellent and hygienic. We would like to book more trips with Thrillophilia in the near future.
Until next time, Ladakh, keep those majestic mountains and star-filled skies warm for our return!
